How to track a IATA air waybill (AWB) number

Understanding IATA Air Waybill Numbers

An IATA air waybill (AWB) is the standard shipping document and tracking number for air cargo shipments. The AWB number consists of 11 digits: a 3-digit airline prefix followed by an 8-digit serial number. For example, 020-12345675. The final digit is a check digit calculated using modulo-7 arithmetic to validate the number's accuracy.

To track your shipment, paste your AWB number into TrackJet's universal tracking box. The system automatically detects the AWB format and identifies the carrier. TrackJet supports 163 active air cargo carriers using the IATA standard, so most international air shipments can be tracked this way.

  • Format: XXX-XXXXXXXX (3-digit prefix + 8-digit serial, 11 digits total)
